How to Buy Tickets

Paper tickets are being phased out. Magnetic paper tickets are no longer sold across most of the network. You can now buy and top up your tickets using the Île-de-France Mobilités app or a Navigo Easy card, making travel in Paris simpler and faster.

► Use your iPhone or Android as your ticket

Buy tickets in the Île-de-France Mobilités app – no waiting at the station.

► Use a Navigo Easy card

Prefer not to use your smartphone? The rechargeable Navigo Easy card (€2) stores your tickets and passes for convenient travel. It’s available at all Metro and RER stations from ticket counters or vending machines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still buy paper tickets?

Mostly no. Magnetic paper tickets have been phased out on the rail network. You now need a Navigo Easy card (€2) or can use your smartphone (Android or iOS) via the Bonjour RATP or Île-de-France Mobilités apps.

What is the standard single fare?

Following the 2025/2026 simplification, there are now two main flat rates:

  • Metro-Train-RER: €2.55 per journey (valid anywhere in the region, except airports).
  • Bus-Tram: €2.05 per journey.

What is the fare for traveling to CDG or Orly Airport?

Airport Ticket: €14 flat fare for RER B (CDG) or Metro Line 14 (Orly).

Please note: travel to CDG or Orly Airport requires a Paris Region Airports Ticket, Paris Visite (all zones), or Navigo Semaine. The standard Metro-Train-RER ticket is not valid for airport journeys and may result in a fine if used.

Which pass is best for a short stay?

Heavy daily travel is best covered by Navigo Jour (€12.30), which offers unlimited travel across all zones for one day (excluding airports).
The Paris Visite tourist package is available for 1, 2, 3, or 5 days, costing more but including airport transfers and some museum discounts.

For multi-day travel, you can use the reusable Navigo Découverte card to load weekly or monthly passes at resident rates. It’s ideal for several days of frequent travel across central Paris, Disneyland, Versailles, and both CDG and Orly airports — no French residency required.
